Personality Clashes
Students are not always going to be best friends with one another. Students' personalities are going to clash. However, the goal for every class should be for students to look past their differences and become a team. Teachers should not force friendships, but teachers should encourage teamwork and getting along.
Rarely will a class have no personality clashes. Therefore, it is the teacher's job to recognize the problems and implement a team atmosphere! The worst thing a teacher can do is ignore the problem.
- Have students participate in team-building activities at least once a week
- Never let students pick their seats, always assign a seating chart (avoid trouble and encourage other students to get along)
- Change seating a least every-other month, more if possible, to get to know more students
- Emphasize the importance of everyone! Call your class a team. Have everyone write one nice thing about everyone else and post around room.
- Don't tolerate cattiness and cliques: pull students aside that are stimulating drama
